What is the Top of the Mountain concert in Ischgl?

Published: 5th June 2017

This year HTS Total Ski has seen more schools seek out the benefits of choosing the Easter break for their school ski trip. Benefitting from great availability, a varied choice of slopes throughout the week and all at a great price point has highlighted Austria as a destination full of possibilities for Party Leaders and their school.

While conditions on the slopes remain good across many resorts, including Obertauern and Zauchensee, April also sees a party off the slopes that attracts thousands each year.

What to expect from the concert

The Top of the Mountain concert in Ischgl celebrates the ski season against the landscape of the Silvretta. The ‘arena’, located 2,300 metres above sea level, sees a celebration of snow, sun and rock music.

In the past, world famous bands, including Muse, have graced the stage to please the 14,000 plus crowds.

While the Top of the Mountain concert sees music win the day, the village of Ischgl shines bright in the Paznauntal Valley.

Not only are skiers and snow-lovers alike treated to the Top of the Mountain concert in Easter and at the season close, but at the start of the ski season. Since 1995, the concerts have seen big names from across the globe perform as well as musicians from neighbouring European countries.

From rags to rock

Ischgl has developed, like many Austrian resorts, from humble beginnings. There are stories of a small community struggling to survive before the giant backdrop of the Alps saw tourism kick-start and send the village into bloom.

School ski groups visiting Ischgl during the season will be treated to traditional character buildings coupled with great hospitality.
