Why choose Mölltal and Mallnitz?
Mölltal and Mallnitz offers excellent high-altitude skiing and has a great snow record. You’ll stay in the attractive town of Obervellach, located in the Drau Valley, between the two ski areas of Mallnitz and the Mölltaler Glacier. It’s a small regional centre with an attractive town square and offers a good range of shops and facilities for school groups. You’ll also have easy access to the motorway and the regional centre of Spittal.
On the piste
Ride the longest underground funicular in the world, from the valley floor to a heady 2,200 metres. The efficient Mölltal Express is certainly an efficient way to reach the Mölltal glacier. While blue and red runs radiate below, further modern lifts reach an exhilarating 3,122 metres. Soak in 360° mountain panoramas, which take in the nearby Dolomites to the south and the Hohe Tauern range to the north.
Your lift pass, which covers over 200 kilometres of skiing in East Tirol and Carinthia, gives you access to the Ankogel, featuring excellent beginners’ facilities and good intermediate runs including the seven-kilometres home run.
The area has an enviable snow record, making it a great choice for Easter skiing. With the Mölltal glacier staying open in the summer, international ski teams head here to use the training facilities in preparation for the ski season ahead.
