Toledo
The city of Toledo has a rich artistic and architectural heritage with buildings ranging from Gothic to Baroque. This World Heritage Site remains Spain's religious capital as it contains three cultures: Christian, Muslim and Judaism.

Escorial
The Royal Monastery of El Escorial is an imposing 16th century edifice that houses the Mausoleum of the Spanish Monarchs and is considered to be one of the Eight Wonders of the World.

Valley of the Fallen
An impressive 1,300m high commemorative monument erected in memory of the fallen soldiers of the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). The tour of the monument includes the Basilica that is carved into a granite mountain.

El Prado Museum
Designed by Juan de Villanueva, El Prado is considered to be one of the most important art galleries in the world. The exhibition includes masterpieces by Velázquez, Goya, El Greco, Ribera, Titian, Raphael, Botticelli and Rubens.

Thyssen Bornemisza Museum
This museum houses a splendid collection ranging from primitive Flemish to contemporary works. More than 800 paintings, sculptures, carvings, and tapestries are on display.

Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia
A cultural centre containing a permanent collection of Spanish contemporary art and offers a wide variety of temporary exhibitions covering diverse modern artistic disciplines such as painting, sculpture, video, photography and films.

Botanical Gardens
This wonderful garden began in the 18th century as King Fernando VI’s botanical collection. It started with 10,000 plants, brought to Spain in 1794, and now contains many more examples of plant life from all over the world.

Palacio Real
The palace is no longer a royal residence but still contains some excellent frescos by Tiépolo and paintings by Velázquez, Goya, Rubens, El Greco and Caravaggio. The architecture and gardens are also great reasons to visit.

Warner Brothers’ Park
Hollywood and Warner Brothers came to Madrid in 2002 in the form of five entertainment themed areas within 625-acres of parkland. This is a great day out for those who love rides, cartoons and cinema fun.

Segovia
Home to the famous Alcázar Castle and one of the largest and best preserved Roman aqueducts anywhere in the world. Segovia is a mixture of alleyways, pedestrian streets and Cathedrals and well worth a visit for students of history.

Parque Del Buen Retiro
This park is perfect for people watching and relaxing away from the pace of city life. There are lots of attractions including a boating lake, puppeteers and musicians.
