Recommended Excursions

Budapest Old Town
On the Buda side of the River Danube the old town holds the traditional character of Hungary. Highlights include the Royal Palace, St Mathew’s church and the fisherman’s bastion. There are several museums and Roman ruins particularly in Obuda.

Palace of Miracles
As part of the House of the Future Centre, in central Buda, the Palace of Miracles presents a hands-on exhibition of science and nature with over 100 different experiments and displays. Great for curious student minds!

Parliament
It is impossible to ignore this commanding building situated in between Chain Bridge and Margaret Bridge on the Pest side of the River Danube. The history, architecture and other important facts are explained during a guided tour.

St Stephen‘s Basilica
This is the largest church in Hungary and took 50 years to create mainly due to the original dome falling in during construction. The current dome is absolutely beautiful.

Buda Castle & Labyrinth
There is a gigantic man-made labyrinth under Buda castle making it an exciting place to explore as well as historically significant. Students can either walk up the hill or take the 150 year old train that works on a chain pulley system.

Fisherman‘s Bastion
On the Buda side of the Danube lies the Fisherman’s Bastion, a lavishly decorated late 19th century castle still in its original condition. The seven towers represent the Magyar tribes and offer an amazing panoramic view of Budapest.

Danube Cruise
A cruise along the famous Danube River will allow students to appreciate the beautiful sites of Budapest from a unique perspective. The atmosphere of the city in the evening makes this a truly memorable excursion.
