Recommended Excursions

St-Malo
This is the most visited place in Brittany thanks to its impressive medieval ramparts overlooking the sea and the vast stretches of clean sandy beach. Students can observe the affects of tourism on the natural landscape.

Ploumanac’h
Situated at the end of the long Sentier des Douaniers pathway the small resort of Ploumanac'h can be found amongst the cliff tops providing amazing views of the strangely shaped pink rocks below.

Dinard
A one time fishing village, but now a chic tourist resort, Dinard is situated across the Rance estuary opposite St Malo. Dinard is home to a hydroelectric dam that spans the River Rance and generates 10% of Brittany's electricity!

Mont St Michel
This small rocky island is home to a highly impressive medieval Benedictine Abbey. The views from the cloisters and the access via the fortified causeway make this a fascinating trip for students of geography and tourists alike.
 
Brest
This is the home of the French navy and has a rich maritime history that can be studied at the city's naval museum. Brest also features Océanopolis, a wonderful aquarium that provides hands-on sea encounters and interesting marine exhibits.

Vannes
The historic town of Vannes contains many interesting places to visit including an archeological museum, a large aquarium and the popular flower gardens. Vannes is a prominent agricultural centre and also houses other industries such as fabric and leather.

Parisian Excursions
As suggested in the itinerary opposite a visit to Brittany can include a stop over in Paris. France’s capital is full of educational and enjoyable sites including monuments, galleries and iconic structures - for more information please turn to page 16 of this brochure.
