  • Italy's most modern uplift
  • Snow-sure, Matterhorn Glacier

One of Italy’s most popular resorts, Cervinia boasts the most modern uplift in the country, not to mention some of the most spectacular scenery. It is connected to Valtournenche, where the Hotel La Villa is situated, as well as to Zermatt in Switzerland. The Matterhorn Glacier in resort ensures late season skiers will not be disappointed. Beginners usually start at Plan Maison but some progress to the wide, open blue runs above the resort. For more advanced skiers there are countless possibilities including a day trip over the border to Switzerland.

HTS local knowledge
St Anselm was born near Valtournenche in 1033. At this time the area belonged to the Kingdom of Burgundy (indeed even today many people in the area still speak French). He was a pupil of Lanfranc of Bec, who held the position of Archbishop of Canterbury under William the Conqueror. St Anselm was consecrated Archbishop in 1093, following the death of Lanfranc, and held the position until his death in 1109.
