Ziller Valley

Offering some of the most extensive and varied skiing in the Alps, the Ziller Valley lift pass covers three fabulous ski areas. The region is suited to all levels of skier and snowboarder and the resorts range from small, rural villages like Bruck to cosmopolitan Mayrhofen.Kaltenbach Hochzillertal, Hochfügen is at the north end of the valley and most easily accessed from Kaltenbach.

The recent link between here and Hochfügen has opened up 145km of skiing and is an ideal starting point for groups staying in Bruck and Wiesing. The second area, the Zillertal Arena can be accessed from Zell am Ziller and extends over Gerlos Pass to Krimml. Finally the Mayrhofen ski area which is centred around the Penken mountain, benefits from enormous investment in the lift system and extensive links southwards towards Hintertux. The glacier at Hintertux (over 3000m) is also included on the ski pass and so early and late season groups can be assured of snow.

HTS local knowledge
One of the most successful Austrian mountaineers, Peter Harbeler, was born in Mayrhofen. In1974, along with Reinhold Messner, he broke the then world record, climbing the Eiger north face in 10 hours. In 1983 he became the first man to conquer Mount Everest without carrying oxygen.
