Zell am See School Ski Tours

Enjoying one of the most spectacular settings in Austria, Zell am See is enduringly popular as a skier’s paradise. The lift pass covers the Schmittenhöhe mountain behind Zell am See, the Maiskogel in Kaprun and the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier, which guarantees year round skiing. For Easter skiers a day here will certainly be a highlight. Our  accommodation is located on the edge of Zell am See and in surrounding villages, none more than a short bus journey to the slopes. Most groups access the Zell am See ski area from the Areitbahn in Schüttdorf, and it is here that the beginners will spend theirfirst days.

There are some wide open runs at the back of the Schmittenhöhe whilst more experienced skiers may prefer the Sonnkogel which is linked to the Schmittenhöhe. The gentle nursery slopes in Kaprun help beginners staying here to gain confidence before moving onto the higher slopes of the Maiskogel or Schmittenhöhe.

The Hohe Tauern National Park to the south of Zell am See is the largest in Europe and straddles the provinces of Salzburg, Carinthia and Tirol. It contains Austria’s highest mountain (Grossglockner 3797m), highest waterfall (Krimml) and longest glacier (Pasterze).
