By 2013, the long awaited link between the Auffach in the Wildschönau and Inneralpbach is due to be completed and this will more than double the available skiing covered on the lift pass. This development complements the already heavy investment in the ski area, which has seen the replacement of drag lifts with state of the art chairlifts. The Wildschönau still retains considerable charm and continues to be a firm favourite with school groups. The charming and unpretentious villages and genuinely warm welcome extended to guests characterise this delightful valley.
On The Slopes
Most groups begin on the Markbachjoch in Niederau where nursery slopes are at village level. Groups soon progress to the gentle, wide blue runs at the top of the gondola. For groups in Auffach, there are nursery slopes at the middle station of the Schatzberg gondola. Most intermediate skiers concentrate on Auffach, where numerous red runs can be accessed from the top station of the gondola and it’s from here the planned link with Inneralpbach will begin. Snowboarders have also discovered the delights of Auffach and the Snowpark on the Schatzberg is a highlight.
