Ski Info

  • Excellent snow sure pistes & late season skiing
  • Picturesque resort
  • Great Apres-Ski activities

This is a well kept secret, little known on the British market but gaining an excellent reputation for its snow sure pistes and king season skiers 'in the know'. The village lies at 1770m on the border of Carinthia and Styria and is clustered around the attractive lake and surrounded by the magnificent Nockberg Mountains. The whole ski area is interlinked which enables skiers to complete the circle both clockwise and anticlockwise. A snowmobile provides the link across the frozen lake. Beginners are well catered for with nursery slopes at village level whilst more confident skiers will enjoy the north facing, tree lined blue and red runs. The Direttissima is the hardest run in resort, whilst the 3km Eisenhut run is the longest and definitely a highlight for intermediate skiers. Snow making is available over the whole area which ensures a long season, well into April.

HTS Local Knowledge

Turrach is in the heart of the Nockberg National Park. The area was awarded national park status in 1987. It developed as a tourist centre after the completion of the 35km toll road rising to over 2000m and linking the Lieser Valley on the west to the Gurk Valley on the east side of the mountains. Today it is famous for its spectacular mountain scenery. Flora and fauna are strictly protected and of special interest to naturalists rare species of butterflies, birds of prey, insects and fish.
