Home to the world famous Hahnenkamm men’s downhill ski race, held every January, this international ski resort boasts some of the best lift connections in the Alps, including a spectacular three cable gondola linking the Pengelstein to Jochberg. Another huge benefit to our groups is the newly opened Panorama gondola connecting Mittersill to the Resterkogel top station. Beginners usually start either on Pass Thurn or at the Fleckalm gondola, whilst experienced skiers have a wealth of blue and red runs to explore. Snow making has helped to prolong the season in Kitzbühel, and late season skiers are rarely disappointed with the conditions.
HTS local knowledge
The first Hahnenkamm race was organised by the Kitzbühel ski club in the 1930/31 season. The downhill section is 3312m long, beginning at 1665m and ending close to the centre of the resort at 802m. The steepest section has a 85% gradient and at the end of the course it is not unknown for racers to reach a speed of over 140km/hr.
